Grey Slime Disease
Grey slime disease is caused by several parasite families. These are Chilodonella in freshwater, Trichodina and Costia (Ichthyobodo) in both freshwater and marine water and Brooklynella in marine water. When a fish is effected by these parasites they produce a large quantity of mucus.
Symptoms Of Grey Slime Disease
The build of mucus causes the fish color to dull and appear to be covered with a grey color that appears as slime.
Treatment Of Grey Slime Disease
Grey slime is often quite difficult to treat as the parasites are normally resistant to most treatments. This infection is caused by such a large number of parasites it can be difficult to treat. To treat this disease use a high concentration formalin bath, but take expert advice first.
